Treatment Process |
Learn what to expect during treatment with Invisalign clear aligners at Orthostyle Montreal. You can achieve and maintain a straighter smile in the five steps below.
During your initial appointment, our practitioner will closely examine your teeth, gums and bite to determine if Invisalign clear aligners are the right orthodontic option for you. The examination will include digital x-rays and impressions, which will later be used to create digital 3D images.
If you decide that Invisalign clear aligners are right for you, your orthodontist will map out a treatment plan based on your initial examination. Using the digital images of your mouth, they can show you the exact expected movements of your teeth, and give you an approximate idea of the length of your treatment. A series of custom-made, Invisalign clear aligners will then be created for you.
Once you receive your custom aligners, you will wear them for at least 20 to 22 hours each day. During your treatment, you can remove them to eat, or brush and floss your teeth. While each case is unique, the total length of your treatment is typically comparable to that of traditional braces.
As your treatment progresses, the aligners will gradually shift your teeth into place. About every two weeks, you can switch to the next set of aligners in your series, moving you to the next stage of treatment. You will also have checkups with your orthodontist every four to six weeks or so.
During your final appointment, your orthodontist will discuss next steps with you. They will likely prescribe you a retainer to help keep your teeth in their new positions.
